Know Before You Build
FAQ & Service Standards
Transparent answers about how I work, what's included, and what to expect — so we can focus on building something great together.
General Questions
Your one-time labor fee covers design, development, testing, and deployment — scoped and quoted before any work begins. It also includes 30 days of post-launch support for bugs and issues in the original build.
It does not include ongoing hosting. You pay hosting separately on Azure, GCP, or AWS (see Hosting below).
You'll always receive a written scope and fixed price before I write a single line of code. No surprises.
Hosting is paid separately by you — on your own Azure, GCP, or AWS account. I configure deployment, CI/CD, and handoff documentation so you own the infrastructure and the bill.
Typical cloud costs are modest for small sites; charges appear on your provider invoice, not bundled into my labor fee. Ongoing infrastructure help or changes after the included support window are quoted as new work.
Shared hosting ($5–$15/month) puts your site on a server with hundreds of other websites. When one gets traffic-spiked or hacked, it affects everyone. A proper cloud deployment on Azure, GCP, or AWS gives your project:
- Dedicated compute resources — your site's performance is never affected by other tenants
- Auto-scaling — handles traffic spikes without crashing
- Built-in SSL, DDoS protection, and enterprise firewall
- Global CDN for fast load times from anywhere
- CI/CD pipeline — updates deploy automatically without downtime
Yes — 100%. When the project is delivered and paid in full, you own every line of code, all assets, and the full repository. There is no vendor lock-in. If you ever want to take your project elsewhere, it's yours to do so.
Service Level Agreement
"Think of the one-time labor fee as building the car. Hosting is the garage and fuel — you pay those separately, on your own account, so you always hold the keys and see the bills. If you want a new paint job or a bigger engine later, that's a new project we scope and quote."
During the 30 days after launch, included support covers keeping your site functioning as originally delivered:
- Bug Fixes — Repairing errors in original code (excluding issues from client-side edits or third-party changes)
- Minor Updates — Small text or image changes on existing pages
- Deployment Issues — Problems tied to the initial launch configuration
- Guidance — Help understanding your repo, hosting account, and handoff docs
Ongoing hosting costs, security patches after the support window, and new features are not part of the labor fee — hosting is yours to pay; new work is quoted separately.
Your labor fee includes 30 days of post-launch support starting at go-live:
- Bug fixes in code delivered as part of the project
- Minor text or image updates on existing pages
- Help if something breaks due to the original deployment
After 30 days, maintenance, new features, and infrastructure work are quoted separately — fixed-price or hourly, agreed in writing before work starts. Optional ongoing support can be arranged; it is never required to keep your site online.

Support Scope
During the included post-launch period, support covers maintaining what was originally built and delivered. Specifically:
- Fixing bugs in existing code or logic
- Updating text or images on existing pages
- Ensuring contact forms and integrations continue to function
- Applying security and dependency updates
- Help during the post-launch window if deployment or config from the original build fails
Anything that changes or extends the original scope is a New Request and will be quoted separately. This includes:
- Adding new pages or entirely new sections
- Redesigning existing elements — colors, fonts, layouts, branding
- Writing or generating new marketing copy or content
- Integrating new third-party tools not in the original build
- Building new AI features or expanding existing AI functionality
- Creating graphic design assets for marketing materials
These are handled as separate project quotes — scoped, priced, and approved before work begins.
Hosting & Infrastructure
At launch I deliver a working deployment on your Azure, GCP, or AWS account — you pay the provider directly. The labor fee includes initial setup such as:
- App hosting and first deployment (e.g. Azure App Service, Google Cloud Run, AWS App Runner or Elastic Beanstalk)
- Docker container setup where applicable
- CI/CD pipeline (e.g. GitHub Actions)
- SSL and domain/DNS guidance
- Handoff documentation and environment/secrets overview
Ongoing hosting bills, renewals, and day-to-day cloud costs are yours. If you want me to manage infrastructure after the support window, we agree that scope and price separately.
AI features (like chatbots or document analyzers) consume API tokens and compute resources. If your usage exceeds the tier's allotted budget:
- You will be notified before overage charges apply
- Overage is billed at cost + 15%
- You can set a hard usage cap to prevent unexpected charges
The same applies to database egress or storage overages on your cloud provider.
No long-term contracts required for project work. You pay a one-time labor fee per scoped build; hosting stays on your own subscription. If you ever stop working with me, you keep your code, repo, and cloud account — full handoff with documentation and migration guidance so you're never stranded.
New Work & Billing
Simple — just reach out via the Quote Request form or email directly. Describe what you want built, and I'll respond within 48 hours with a scope summary and fixed price. No work begins until you approve in writing.
Work beyond the original scope (or after the included 30-day support window) is billed as either:
- Fixed-price project — scoped upfront, 50% deposit to start, 50% on delivery
- Hourly rate — for smaller, well-defined tasks (rate provided in scope)
You'll always know the price before any work begins. No surprise invoices.
Every project includes a revision round built into the scope. If the delivered work doesn't match what was agreed in writing, I'll fix it at no additional charge. My goal is a client who's proud to show their site to everyone they know.
